When d’Arnaud is activated, top prospect Kevin Plawecki will likely be sent down to Las Vegas, Newsday reported.“We all know that Travis is on the road back,” manager Terry Collins said, according to the Post. “But let’s not put any dates on it just yet. Padres name Pat Murphy interim manager
  • Pat Murphy will manage the Padres for the rest of the 2015 season, the team announced Tuesday. It's an intriguing hire by San Diego general manager A.J. Preller, who fired longtime manager Bud Black on Monday. Murphy, 56, had managed in the Padres' minor league system the last four seasons, including at Triple-A El Paso this year. But he is better known for his work in the college ranks, f夜网论坛irst at Notre Dame (1988-94) and then at Arizona State (1995-2009). Murphy was forced out at ASU in the fall of 2009 after an NCAA investigation found academic improprieties in the program. The NCAA ultimately cleared him of unethical conduct but did find he had a “cavalier attitude” toward regulations.Whether in college or the minors, Murphy has never managed a team to a losing record. Black had only two winning records in his eight-plus seasons managing in San Diego. Despite his late arrival in the professional ranks, Murphy has been seen as something of a rising star. The Padres previously denied the Brewers permission to talk to Murphy about a major league coaching job — perhaps with this exact scenario in mind.[......]
