John Gibbons ejected; didn't manage complete Blue Jays game over past week


null Baseball It's been a rough week for John Gibbons.The Blue Jays manager was ejected from a game for the third time in the past seven days Sunday after Twins starter Phil Hughes threw behind Josh Donaldson and Gibbons emerged from the dugout to argue with crew chief Joe West. MORE: Draft: Who will go No. 1?Hughes threw two pitches to the AL MVP in the fifth inning, one inside that nearly hit Donaldson, and one right behind him. Donaldson was upset and tried to talk to plate umpire Mark Ripperger before Gibbons came out of the dugout and argued with Ripperger and West, who came in from his spot at first base.  Donaldson was ejected by umpire Toby Basner in the first inning of Saturday's matchup with the Twins.Gibbons started the week when he was ejected last Sunday at Texas, but returned to the field during a brawl that started with Rougned Odor's punch of Jose Bautista. On Monday, Gibbons was tossed after arguing a strikeout pitch against shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Gibbons sat out with a three-game suspension for coming back onto the field after being ejected before Odor's punch.While Friday and Saturday's games against the Twins occurred without incident, Gibbons has been on a roll.He now has four ejections on the season.
